Adoption Education
“Family leaves an indelible mark on your life; demanding to be noticed and woven into every piece of your story”
Since 2011
I am Adopted
I am an adoptee. I lived my life dealing with the usual ups and downs that everyone faces; hopes and dreams, some met, some lost. I had a good a life. I knew I was adopted, but never thought it had much impact on my life. I was (and am) grateful to have been adopted by such a great family. Then, in 2009 I began to research adoption for a reason entirely unrelated to my own. I opened Pandora’s box. I didn’t realize that my lifetime of insecurity, fear of being rejected and inability to fully connect in relationships was because I was adopted. Let’s be clear, it wasn’t being adopted, it was being relinquished for adoption that caused the wound I didn’t know I needed to heal. After shifting gears, completing my Master’s Degree in Adoption Studies and a lot of therapeutic work, I wondered, “Why didn’t I know any of this?” I committed myself and my new profession as a Post-Adoption Specialist to helping families like mine, people like me and adoptive parents get the answers to questions they didn’t know they needed to ask.
I created Adopt Ed. to educate those who know an adoptee, adoptees and biological families who have an adopted child in the world. If you are struggling with any adoption related issue or are having challenges with your adopted child, but aren’t sure if it is adoption related I, and my team, can help.
We are excited to help you and your family.

This is different than therapy
Therapy can be a very valuable tool in working through adoption issues. However, therapy isn’t always necessary and sometimes you and your family just aren’t ready. We offer Consulting, Coaching and Mentorship to you and your family. Think of it as Adoption Life Coaching. We will deal with some tough emotional issues. We will also deal with behavioral patterns, relationship development and understanding how adoption is playing out in your life. There may come a day when you need therapy. We will be the first to let you know when that time comes. We work closely with therapists who specialize in adoption, trauma and attachment and can make the perfect referral to fit you, your child or your family, when the need arises.
